Naming or renaming a service

You can give a custom name to any of your services to identify them more easily.

How do I rename a service in my client area?

Open the service page and click the edit icon next to its name: the change is immediate.

1. Open the service page
2. Click the edit icon next to the service name
3. Enter the new name (50 characters maximum)
4. Confirm

Does this custom name affect the service itself?

Not at all: it changes neither the hostname, nor the domain, nor anything on the machine.

This name is only visible in your client area and has no impact on the service itself. It is ideal for telling apart several identical servers, for instance "Production" and "Staging".
