Enabling two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) secures your account by adding an extra verification step at each login.

How do I enable two-factor authentication on my account?

You enable it from your profile by scanning a QR code with an authenticator app: it takes less than two minutes.

  1. Go to My Account → Profile
  2. Scroll down to the "Two-Factor Authentication" section
  3. Scan the QR code displayed with an app like Google Authenticator or Authy
  4. Enter the 6-digit code generated by the app
  5. Click "Enable"

What are recovery codes for?

They are your only way back in if you lose access to your authenticator app — a phone that is lost, broken or reset.

After activation, you can download your recovery codes from your profile. Keep them safe, somewhere other than the phone that generates the codes.

How do I disable two-factor authentication?

Return to your profile, enter a valid code from your app, and click "Disable".

Disabling therefore requires a valid code: if your app is no longer available, use a recovery code first to log in.
