Host Cegid on a remote Windows server in France

Your Cegid files leave the office PC for an always-on Windows machine in France, opened by your colleagues over RDP.

Starting at €13/mo

Introduction

Plenty of small companies and accounting firms still run Cegid installed on-premise, on a desktop in the office or a tower sitting in a cupboard. The ledger lives on that machine, and you have to be in front of it to work. Hosting Cegid on a remote server moves that workstation into a French datacenter: the software is installed once, the database stays in one place, and everyone connects over RDP from €13/month incl. VAT, from the office or from home.

We recommend Windows - Plus at €13/month incl. VAT: 8 vCores, 16 GB of RAM, 200 GB of SSD and 500 Mbps — the most popular plan. Our sizing rule is published: 4 GB is enough for RDP and office work on your own, 8 GB becomes the floor as soon as business software is added, along with a SQL Server Express engine or several concurrent users. The server is delivered in 10 minutes, with a dedicated IPv4 address, Anti-DDoS and full administrator access.

Better said before you order: By-Hoster is not a Cegid partner, reseller or support desk. We supply no licence, we do not install the software and we do not assist with it. We deliver a bare Windows machine that you or your integrator configure; the Microsoft licence follows the same rule. And if you are already on a Cegid cloud offering, this page is not for you: your vendor already hosts the application, and a VPS would only add a layer you pay for and administer.

What we deliver, and what you bring

16 GB of RAM on Windows - Plus

Windows - Plus at €13/month incl. VAT: 8 vCores, 16 GB of RAM, 200 GB of SSD, 500 Mbps. It is the most popular configuration, the one that leaves room for business software, its database and two RDP sessions open all day. Core at €8/month still works for a single user.

2 administrative RDP sessions

Windows Server allows 2 concurrent administrative RDP sessions. That is a Microsoft rule, not a limit we add. To open application RDP access to more colleagues, you need Microsoft RDS CAL licences, bought on your side: we neither supply nor resell them.

A snapshot before every upgrade

Trigger a snapshot from the client area right before installing a new release, test on one ledger, and roll back to the previous state if the result is not what you wanted. A full reinstall of the server is also available on your own, without opening a ticket.

One single datacenter, in France

DC-FR_NA(01), in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, operated directly by the technical team. KVM virtualisation with Proxmox, NVMe storage, French jurisdiction, GDPR framework, no transfer outside the European Union. We say where your data sits; we claim no sector certification.

The situations that move Cegid onto a remote server

Several colleagues on the same ledger

Software and database stay in one place: everyone opens an RDP session instead of mailing backups around. The 2 administrative sessions cover a pair of users; beyond that, plan for RDS CALs and the matching RAM.

A machine that is always on

No more workstation switched off by a colleague on their way out on Friday. The server runs in the datacenter, long jobs and imports finish with nobody watching the screen, and the session is picked up the next day exactly as it was.

Remote work and multi-site firms

The same Windows desktop, identical, from the office PC, the computer at home or a second location. Nothing to reinstall on each workstation, nothing to resynchronise at night, with RDP access tuned up to 60 FPS.

Replacing the office server

No tower to keep cool, no UPS to watch, no drive to swap on a Friday evening. The machine lives in our datacenter and you only manage what is on it. In exchange, everything travels over your Internet line: plan a fallback.

Software and database in one place

The database engine on the same machine as the application, without crossing the office network. If your deployment relies on SQL Server, it keeps its own licence: Express is free but capped at 10 GB per database.

Changing size without buying hardware

Start on Windows - Plus at €13/month and move to Max (32 GB, €26/month) or Titan (64 GB, €49.99/month) when usage grows. No capital to write off, no commitment, and 10% off with annual billing.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, within the limits of what we provide. You get a complete Windows machine with administrator access: you install your software on it exactly as you would on a physical server, and you connect over RDP. The honest clarification: By-Hoster is not a Cegid partner, reseller or certified provider. We stand behind the machine, its operating system and its network; installing the software and keeping it running is down to you or your integrator. Check with the vendor that your contract allows an installation on a remote server.

Four configurations, monthly prices incl. VAT: Core at €8 (4 vCores, 8 GB, 50 GB SSD), Plus at €13 (8 vCores, 16 GB, 200 GB), Max at €26 (16 vCores, 32 GB, 500 GB) and Titan at €49.99 (24 vCores, 64 GB, 800 GB). All run at 500 Mbps except Titan at 1000 Mbps, and annual billing takes 10% off. That price covers the machine, the infrastructure and 24/7 support; it does not include the Microsoft licence, the Cegid licence, RDS CALs or SQL Server.

None of the three. We do not resell business-software licences, we do not install the application and we do not support it. Your Cegid licence stays yours, from the vendor or your usual reseller, and the installation happens over RDP on the server, done by you or your integrator. Our human 24/7 support covers the machine: operating system, network, RDP access, snapshots, reinstallation. For an accounting configuration question or an application update, your Cegid provider remains the right contact.

The point to understand before ordering: Windows Server allows 2 concurrent administrative RDP sessions. That is enough for a pair of users, or for an integrator to step in while you are connected. As soon as more colleagues need the software open at the same time in application mode, Microsoft requires RDS CAL licences that you buy yourself: we do not supply them. Budget the memory too, since every open session takes its share — the main argument for the 16 GB of Windows - Plus.

No, and we would rather say so than sell you a VPS you do not need. If your vendor already hosts the application and you reach it through a browser or a client they provide, the hosting is done: adding a Windows server would only stack one more layer to pay for and administer. This page is for organisations running an on-premise Cegid, with its program files and its database on a machine of their own. If you are unsure which case you are in, ask your reseller before ordering.

That depends on your edition and your deployment: check it with your integrator, as we do not comment on software we do not distribute. What we can state: SQL Server needs its own licence. Express is free but capped at 10 GB per database, 1 socket or 4 cores and 1.4 GB of RAM for the engine. Standard and Enterprise are paid Microsoft editions. None of it is included in our pricing: we deliver the operating system, you install the rest. Details on the SQL Server VPS page.

The move happens over RDP: you order, the server arrives in 10 minutes with the operating system only, your integrator installs the software on it and restores your ledger from the application's own backup export. Before every version upgrade, take a snapshot from the client area, test, and restore if needed. To be clear: only snapshots are documented, there is no automatic off-site backup of your files. Keep your own archiving policy outside the VPS.

Your data sits in our single DC-FR_NA(01) datacenter in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, operated directly by the technical team. Virtualisation runs on KVM with Proxmox, under French jurisdiction, within the GDPR framework, with no transfer outside the European Union. We certify nothing, though: we claim no sector certification and we do not pretend to make you compliant with a professional, accounting or tax obligation. We say where the data is, and that is all. Your own adviser decides the rest.

Three systems are offered at checkout, at no extra cost: Windows Server 2025 (mainstream support until 13 November 2029, security until 14 November 2034), Windows Server 2022 (mainstream support until 13 October 2026, security until 14 October 2031) if your reseller has not validated 2025 yet, and Windows 11, which belongs on a personal workstation because it is a client operating system, not designed to host a multi-user service. Windows Server 2019 is no longer installable. The choice can be changed later through a reinstall from the client area.
