Introduction
Renting a Windows VPS means paying for the use of a virtual machine running in our infrastructure, without buying anything: no server, no disks, no UPS, no rack. You pay a monthly rent and receive, 10 minutes after your order is confirmed, a dedicated IPv4 address and the Administrator credentials of an already installed Windows. At By-Hoster this starts at €8/month incl. VAT: 4 vCores, 8 GB of RAM, 50 GB of SSD, 500 Mbps.
What the rent covers deserves to be written down plainly, because this is where bad surprises live. It covers the machine, the hypervisor, NVMe storage, the dedicated IPv4, Anti-DDoS protection, snapshots and human 24/7 support. It does not cover the Microsoft licence: we install the system you pick at checkout — Windows Server 2025, Windows Server 2022 or Windows 11, at no extra charge — but we neither supply nor resell any licence, and the same goes for RDS CALs and your business software licences. As for duration, there is no multi-year contract: the service is billed per period and continues for as long as you renew it. Automatic renewal can be switched off from the client area or by ticket, and the rental then ends at the next expiry date. The annual commitment is simply a pricing option worth -10%. The machine runs in our single infrastructure DC-FR_NA(01), in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, virtualised with KVM through Proxmox: your data stays under French jurisdiction.

A rent, not a purchase
You do not own the machine, you rent its use. No hardware investment to write off, no server to resell after five years, no part to replace on a Sunday evening. The amount is the same every month and the invoice is issued from the client area.
Delivered in 10 minutes
The dedicated IPv4 and the Administrator account arrive 10 minutes after your order is confirmed, system already installed. Windows Server 2025, Windows Server 2022 or Windows 11 are chosen at checkout at no extra charge, and changed later by reinstalling.

Infrastructure is in the rent
NVMe storage, dedicated IPv4, Anti-DDoS and snapshots on all four configurations at no extra charge. Fallback VNC console in the client area, self-service reinstall, human 24/7 support by ticket, Discord and phone.
When renting beats buying
Not buying a tower
A physical server has to be bought, installed, cooled, backed up and eventually replaced. With a rental all of that is already in place, and the UPS is no longer your problem. Our page on replacing the office server walks through the switch.
A need with an end date
A project, an assignment, an audit, an accounting season: the machine goes back when the need stops, and the rent stops with it. No hardware left on your hands once the file is closed.
Trying before investing
Checking that a business application really works remotely, testing a Windows Server version, rehearsing a migration: one rental period costs far less than a mistaken server purchase.
A shared remote workstation
One Windows machine everyone opens over RDP from home. Worth knowing before you order: Windows Server allows 2 concurrent administrative RDP sessions; beyond that Microsoft requires RDS CALs, which we do not supply.
A workload that moves
Start at €8/month, move up to 16 or 32 GB of RAM when activity demands it, come back down afterwards. A configuration change is requested from support and does not start from a blank machine.
A machine that never sleeps
Overnight jobs, scheduled tasks, an application that must stay connected: the rented server keeps working while your own computer is closed, on a fixed French IPv4.

Retrieve your data before that date: do not count on an archive being kept for you afterwards. Our terms state that an expired service is permanently deleted after three months; that delay is administrative tolerance, not a backup.
No. By-Hoster installs the system you choose at checkout at no extra charge, but neither supplies nor resells any Microsoft licence: the right to use the system is yours to hold, as are CALs, RDS CALs if several people work in remote desktop sessions, and your business software licences. Yes. The four configurations form a ladder, from 8 to 64 GB of RAM, and you move between them by asking support. That is exactly the point of renting: you rent today's size, not the one you imagine needing in three years. A purchased server, by contrast, is sized once and for all on the day you order it.
10 minutes after your order is confirmed. You receive the dedicated IPv4 address and the Administrator credentials, with the system already installed. You open Remote Desktop Connection, paste the address and you are on the desktop. Nothing on our side stands between your order and your first session.
The question is not only the purchase price. A bought server adds space, electricity, cooling, a UPS, backups, spare parts and the person who deals with it when it fails on a Friday evening. Renting folds all of that into the rent. Conversely, if the machine must physically stay on your premises — a regulatory constraint, a device plugged into it, a very large data volume — buying still makes sense. Yes: order a monthly period and switch off automatic renewal as soon as it is delivered. The server runs to the end of the period, then stops. Just remember to move your data out before the expiry date. Refund conditions are those of our refund policy: read it before ordering rather than after.
