Rent an RDP server in France
A Windows desktop you reach from anywhere, delivered in 10 minutes with its IP address and Administrator credentials, over RDP up to 60 FPS.
Starting at €8/mo
Introduction
An RDP server is a Windows server you drive remotely through Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol: you see the desktop, open your files and install your software exactly as you would on a machine sitting in front of you — except this one stays powered on around the clock in a French datacenter. At By-Hoster it starts at €8/month incl. VAT with 4 vCores, 8 GB of RAM and 50 GB of SSD.
What you actually receive: a dedicated IPv4 address and the server's Administrator credentials, 10 minutes after your order is confirmed. RDP access is tuned up to 60 FPS, which matters once you spend a full day on it: scrolling, windows and video stay smooth. You connect from Windows with Remote Desktop Connection, from macOS, iOS and Android with Windows App — Microsoft's free client, previously named Microsoft Remote Desktop — and from Linux with Remmina or FreeRDP, since Microsoft ships no RDP client for Linux. Our guide on connecting over RDP walks through it step by step.
Two limits deserve to be stated before you order, not after. Windows Server allows 2 concurrent administrative RDP sessions: to open application RDP access to several colleagues, Microsoft requires RDS CAL licences. And the Microsoft licence is not supplied — we install the system, we do not sell it. Your server runs in our DC-FR_NA(01) datacenter in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, operated directly by the association's technical team.
What a By-Hoster RDP server includes
RDP tuned up to 60 FPS
Remote Desktop is set up to stay smooth, not merely functional: rendering up to 60 FPS, enough to work a full day without the stutter you get from a badly configured RDP session.
IP and credentials in 10 minutes
You receive the dedicated IPv4 address and the server's Administrator account 10 minutes after ordering. Full administrator access: install whatever you need and create the user accounts you want — concurrent RDP sessions themselves stay capped at 2 without RDS CAL licences.
Connect from any device
Windows with Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc), macOS, iOS and Android through Windows App (formerly Microsoft Remote Desktop), and Linux with Remmina or FreeRDP. A fallback VNC console stays available in the client area if RDP ever becomes unreachable.
NVMe, dedicated IPv4, Anti-DDoS
NVMe storage, a dedicated IPv4 address, Anti-DDoS protection and snapshots included on all four configurations at no extra charge. No commitment, 48-hour money-back guarantee, human 24/7 support by ticket, Discord and phone.
What people use an RDP server for
Business software, remotely
Sage, EBP, Cegid, Ciel: the software runs on the server and everyone connects over RDP. Their licences remain yours — we supply the machine.
Always-on platforms
A workstation that never shuts down, on a fixed French IPv4 address, for applications that must stay connected even when your own computer is closed.
Portable workstation
One Windows desktop, found exactly as you left it from the office PC, the Mac at home or a tablet on the road. Nothing to resynchronise.
Automation and scheduled scripts
Scheduled tasks, PowerShell scripts, overnight jobs: the server keeps working while you are disconnected, and you come back over RDP to the result.
Two people on one machine
The 2 administrative RDP sessions let two people work or troubleshoot together. Beyond that, Microsoft RDS CAL licences are required.
Testing and isolated environments
Install, break, reinstall: reinstallation is triggered from the client area and snapshots let you roll back without starting over from scratch.
Frequently asked questions
An RDP server is a Windows server you use remotely through Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol. You open a window on your own computer and see the server's desktop: same clicks, same software, same clipboard. The difference with your local machine is that it stays powered on permanently, on a dedicated French IPv4 address, and depends on neither your hardware nor your home connection.
The range starts at €8/month incl. VAT with Windows - Core (4 vCores, 8 GB RAM, 50 GB SSD, 500 Mbps). Then come Windows - Plus at €13/month (8 vCores, 16 GB, 200 GB), the most popular one, Windows - Max at €26/month (16 vCores, 32 GB, 500 GB) and Windows - Titan at €49.99/month (24 vCores, 64 GB, 800 GB, 1000 Mbps). Annual billing takes 10% off. RDP access is included on all four at no extra charge.
Pick a configuration, choose the operating system at checkout — Windows Server 2025, Windows Server 2022 or Windows 11, at no extra cost — and confirm. The server is delivered in 10 minutes with the system already installed. You collect the IP address and Administrator credentials, open Remote Desktop Connection, paste the IP, and you are on your desktop. No commitment, with a 48-hour money-back guarantee.
From Windows with Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc), which ships with the system, from macOS, iOS and Android with Windows App, the free Microsoft client formerly named Microsoft Remote Desktop, and from Linux with Remmina or FreeRDP, as Microsoft publishes no RDP client for Linux. The server makes no distinction between those clients: you find the same session, with your windows still open, whichever device you pick up. Our guide on connecting over RDP covers the procedure system by system.
Windows Server allows 2 concurrent administrative RDP sessions. That is enough to administer the machine or for two people to work on it. To give application RDP access to several colleagues, Microsoft requires RDS CAL licences (Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licences), which you buy yourself: By-Hoster neither supplies nor resells them. Budget the matching RAM too, since every open session consumes its share.
Yes, and it is not included in the price. By-Hoster installs the system on your server but neither supplies nor resells Microsoft licences: you must hold a valid one for your own use. The price covers the machine, the infrastructure, Anti-DDoS, the dedicated IPv4 address and human 24/7 support — not the right to use the operating system, nor your business software, nor RDS CALs.
Our rule of thumb: 4 GB of RAM minimum for light use (RDP plus office work, a single user), and 8 GB as soon as you add business software, SQL Server Express or several concurrent users. All our Windows plans already start at 8 GB, which covers most needs. For several heavy applications open at once, aim for 16 or 32 GB with Windows - Plus or Windows - Max.
Windows Server 2025 for a new deployment: the latest LTSC release, with security updates until 14 November 2034. Windows Server 2022 if your business software is certified on that version only: its mainstream support ends on 13 October 2026, with security updates running until 14 October 2031. Windows 11 for a personal workstation only: it is a client operating system and is not designed to host a multi-user service. The choice is made at checkout, at no extra cost, and can be changed later by reinstalling from the client area.
A fallback VNC console is available in the client area: it shows the machine's screen without going through the RDP network, so you can fix a misconfigured firewall or a stopped service. You also have snapshots to roll back to an earlier state and self-service reinstallation. And if none of that is enough, human 24/7 support answers by ticket, Discord and phone.
