The word "cloud" covers everything and anything. At By-Hoster, it means one precise thing: KVM virtual servers provisioned in minutes on our shared NVMe infrastructure, with reserved resources (CPU, RAM, storage) that do not depend on your neighbours. You scale up or down by switching plans, pay monthly, with no commitment.
What our cloud is not: a multi-region hyperscaler with millisecond autoscaling. If you need to spread an application across three continents, AWS or GCP are better choices — and we will tell you so. But if you want a 100% French cloud, predictable in cost (no usage-based billing that explodes), with your data in a single datacenter operated in-house and human support that answers, you are in the right place.
The infrastructure is the same as our Linux KVM VPS and Windows VPS: KVM virtualization via Proxmox, NVMe storage, anti-DDoS included, IPv4 + IPv6, snapshots. The difference with a bargain-bin VPS is philosophy: guaranteed resources, French jurisdiction end to end, and a non-profit host with no incentive to oversell capacity.

No — and we would rather own that than fake it. Scaling happens by switching plans (CPU/RAM/storage upgrade), at your initiative. For the vast majority of projects this is healthier: costs stay predictable and you are never billed for an unexpected usage spike.
