Introduction
Komga installed, updated and backed up by us, on a machine in France. You install nothing and configure no server: the application is online a few minutes after you order, under your own name.
The plan that suits it is App Confort at €8.99/month incl. VAT — 4 GB of memory. Komga runs on the Java virtual machine, which reserves its heap at start-up. The hungriest moment of its life is the first scan: it opens every archive, reads the metadata and builds the thumbnails. 1.5 GB is enough for day-to-day use; the 4 GB stop the indexing of several thousand volumes from bringing it to its knees.
Komga converts nothing and downloads nothing: it serves your CBZ, CBR, PDF and EPUB files as they are. You upload a volume from the interface, or drop a batch into the library folder and it picks them up on the next scan. To read outside the browser it publishes an OPDS feed with the Page Streaming extension, understood by Panels and Paperback on iOS, Mihon on Android and KOReader on e-ink readers.
What Komga does
A reader in the browser
Continuous scroll or page by page, double-page spreads for wide artwork, right-to-left for manga. Progress is remembered: you reopen the volume on the page where you stopped.
OPDS for tablets and e-readers
The OPDS feed with Page Streaming lets Panels and Paperback on iOS, Mihon on Android and KOReader on Kobo read the library without downloading a whole volume for three pages.
Metadata read from the file itself
Komga reads the ComicInfo.xml embedded in CBZ archives: series, volume number, author, publisher, summary, publication date. Whatever the file does not say, you correct in the interface, and the correction survives the next scan.
One account per reader
Everyone keeps their own progress and their own favourites. You decide which libraries each person reaches, and you can hide series above a given age rating.

Frequently asked questions
CBZ, CBR, PDF and EPUB. CBZ is the most comfortable, because it carries its metadata in a ComicInfo.xml file that Komga reads on its own. The application converts nothing: it serves the file as it is, which avoids a loss of quality but assumes your scans are already legible.
Yes, through the OPDS feed. Panels and Paperback on iOS, Mihon on Android, KOReader on Kobo and PocketBook connect with your instance address and your credentials. The Page Streaming extension sends pages one by one, which keeps reading smooth even on an average connection.
From the admin interface, by uploading the file into the right series, or in bulk into the library folder: Komga finds it on the next scan and builds the thumbnail. It also flags duplicates, which helps when the same series has been collected twice under two different names.
App Confort, at €8.99/month incl. VAT. It provides 4 GB of memory where the application asks for 1.5 GB at minimum: the headroom serves the system, not the decor. You can change plan later without reinstalling.
Yes, they are part of the service. A self-hosted application left un-updated is a security risk, not a saving.
