By-Hoster web hosting runs on Plesk. Your client area is the front door: it shows the essentials of your plan and opens the panel without you typing a password. Everything to do with files, databases, e-mail addresses and certificates is then handled inside Plesk.
What does the hosting delivery e-mail contain?
The "Your hosting is ready" e-mail contains:
- the domain attached to the hosting;
- the panel URL;
- your Plesk user and password.
Keep them: they let you sign in to the panel even from outside the client area.
How do I open my Plesk panel from the client area?
Open My services, click your hosting, then click Automatic connection: a Plesk session opens straight away, with no password to type.
- Sign in to the client area and open My services.
- Click your hosting service.
- Click Automatic connection.
A session opens straight into Plesk, with no credentials to type. The session is bound to the IP address you clicked from: if your connection changes address along the way, simply click Automatic connection again.
Two other buttons sit alongside:
- Reset Password: generates a new random password for your Plesk account. It is shown once only, in a message reading "New password for your-login: … — write it down now, it will not be shown again." Copy it into your password manager straight away. The confirmation warns that "the old password will stop working immediately."
- Visit the website: opens your site in a new tab, handy for checking a deployment.
Where do I see the quotas and limits of my hosting plan?
Under the domain name, four cards show the limits of your plan:
- Databases (databases);
- Disk (disk), with a usage bar that turns yellow at 75 % and red at 90 %;
- Additional FTP Users (extra FTP users);
- Authorized sites (allowed sites).
The word Unlimited appears where the plan sets no limit. These figures match the catalogue plans — Débutant, Étudiant, Classique, Professionnel, Expert and Illimitée — and are read live from the server.
Disk is the limit that fills up most quietly: local backups, logs and mailboxes all count towards it. A red bar eventually stops mail being delivered and databases being written to.
What is in the "Informations sur le site web" card?
It gathers the technical details you will need:
- IP addresses: the address of the server hosting your site;
- FTP ID and FTP Password — the password is blurred, select it to copy it;
- Version de PHP currently assigned to your site;
- Website root directory: the folder to upload your files into, usually
httpdocs.
Note that the FTP account and the panel account are two different accounts. The Reset Password button in the client area changes the panel one, not the FTP one; the latter is changed inside Plesk.
Where do I start once I am inside Plesk?
Once inside the panel, the Websites & Domains page is your starting point. There you will find:
- the File Manager, to upload a site without an FTP client;
- Databases;
- Mail, to create your e-mail addresses;
- SSL/TLS Certificates;
- PHP Settings, to change version;
- the Backup Manager for your space.
Each of these has its own guide in this category.
What should I do if I cannot sign in to my Plesk panel?
First check that your service is active, click Automatic connection again, then reset the panel password if your credentials are refused.
- Check that your service is active on its page: a service suspended for non-payment closes panel access.
- Try Automatic connection again: the previous session may have expired.
- If the panel rejects credentials you typed by hand, use Reset Password and note the new one.
- If it keeps failing, open a ticket with the Service Technique, quoting the exact time and the message displayed.
